Sining Chen, Ph.D.
Dr.
Chen earned a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Tsinghua University, Beijing,
China in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Statistics and Decision Sciences from Duke
University in 2002. Dr. Chen is now a postdoctoral fellow in the Biostatistics
Division of the Department of Oncology.
Dr. Chen's current research interests include: 1) developing
statistical models for predicting genetic susceptibility to cancers;
2) statistical methodology in the design and analysis of gene
characterization studies.
She has worked on
the development and validation of Mendelian risk prediction models for
breast and colon cancer (namely BRCAPRO and
CRCAPRO)
and the characterization of relevant disease genes. Her other interests include image analysis (spatial normalization),
analysis of biological sequence data, Bayesian computation and methodology.
