By training, Dr. Wheelan is a bioinformatics specialist. Her broad and rather eclectic interests include transposons and repetitive elements and how they shape genomes; functionally important motifs and gene families in eukaryotic genomes; microarray analysis of cancer from a pathways perspective; and microarray design, including a unique double-tiling approach.
